ChatGPT now works with apps

Thanks to its new App SDK, ChatGPT can now integrate and work seamlessly with popular apps like Spotify, Canva, and many others!

At its recent DevDay presentation, OpenAI officially introduced a new App SDK that allows developers to run their software directly within the popular chatbot. This development opens the door for ChatGPT to evolve from a simple text-generation tool into a central command hub across applications.

Which apps are initially connecting to ChatGPT?
Over the coming weeks and months, users will be able to interact with some of their favorite apps—such as Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma, and Zillow—directly through ChatGPT. The first integrations are available starting today, and soon giants like DoorDash, OpenTable, Target, and Uber are expected to join this ecosystem.

This new feature allows users to invoke an app directly with a command. For example, when planning a party, all you need to type is:

“For example, you could type: ‘Spotify, create a playlist for my party this Friday.’

Upon receiving this command, ChatGPT will suggest playlists tailored to the mood, theme, or occasion. The first time a user connects an app, they’ll be prompted to link their account to ChatGPT. The suggested playlists then provide direct links through the interface to Spotify, allowing instant listening.

In the case of Canva, the power of AI integration is strikingly demonstrated. In a demo, a user verbally requested designs for a dog-walking business, and Canva instantly generated several posters. This highlights how much the design and creative process can be accelerated.”

OpenAI positions this new App SDK not only as an exciting opportunity for users but also for developers. The company announced that it is working on submission guidelines that will allow developers to monetize their creations. This move is seen as the first step toward creating a large app marketplace around ChatGPT.

Companies that adopted the integration early, like Spotify, share this excitement. Spotify officials stated, “We are still in the early stages, so we may not be able to handle every request yet, but over the coming weeks and months we will continue to shape, improve, and expand the experience,” emphasizing the potential of the collaboration.

OpenAI will continue expanding its platform later this year by reviewing and publishing third-party app submissions. In this way, AI becomes a central tool that bridges different applications.
