Sony Prepares Its First 200MP Camera Sensor!

The 200-megapixel camera sensor we’re used to seeing from Samsung is this time being developed by Sony. Here are the details.

Samsung, which was the first company to bring a 200MP camera sensor to mobile devices, may soon face competition in the ultra-high-resolution market. Initially used in the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and later in Samsung’s own Galaxy S23 Ultra, this resolution now has a challenger: Sony is preparing its own response.

Sony LYT-910: A New Era at 200MP Resolution
Having focused on 50MP sensors for years, Sony is now ready to introduce its first 200MP camera sensor for mobile devices, marking a potential revolution in the field. Reliable leak source FeniBook has revealed the first details about Sony’s upcoming 200MP mobile sensor, which is reported to be named LYT-910.

LYT-910 Technical Specifications:

  • Size: 1/1.11 inch
  • Pixel Size: 0.7µm
  • Resolution: Capable of capturing images at 50MP and 200MP using pixel binning technology
  • Zoom: Offers 2x and 4x lossless zoom through in-sensor cropping
  • Dynamic Range: Over 100dB, promising excellent HDR performance
  • Video: Expected to support HDR 4K at 120fps and 8K at 30fps recording

With its 1/1.11-inch size, the Sony LYT-910 directly competes with Samsung’s current largest 200MP sensor, the ISOCELL HP1 (1/1.22 inch), and its top 200MP sensor, the ISOCELL HP2 (1/1.4 inch).

The Sony LYT-910 is expected to be used next year in flagship models such as the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra. Since Samsung manufactures its own 200MP sensors, it is unlikely to use this chip in its own phones. Indeed, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to continue using the existing ISOCELL HP2 (200MP) sensor.
