Apple is preparing to introduce its foldable devices, a move that is expected to completely reshape the balance of the industry
Apple has set its position in the foldable device market. According to reports, the company’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch in 2026, while a larger foldable iPad is planned for 2028.
Apple enters the foldable device segment
Market forecasts suggest that Apple could sell 8 to 10 million units of its first foldable iPhone in 2026. This number is expected to rise to 25 million units the following year.

Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to launch as part of the iPhone 18 series. Previously, it was rumored that a foldable iPad or MacBook would arrive before the foldable iPhone. However, the latest reports indicate that Apple is also working on a foldable iPad with a screen size ranging from 18 to 20 inches, which is expected to be released at a later date.
To enhance durability, Apple will use an ultra-thin cover glass on both models, supplied by Corning. The production process, including cutting, corner processing, inspection, and packaging, will be handled by General Interface Solutions (GIS).
The foldable iPad is expected to come with a higher price tag compared to the foldable iPhone, which means its sales numbers are likely to remain more limited.
This development also reveals Apple’s strategy in the foldable devices market. The company is entering this segment later than its competitors, but reports suggest that Apple is using this delay to deliver a flawless and more durable product. This approach is expected to intensify competition in the foldable smartphone market and could also shape the future of the industry
