These MacBook models are becoming obsolete.

Apple has decided to end update support for certain MacBook models, a decision that has caused significant concern among users.

Apple has officially ended hardware support for certain Mac and iPhone models, updating its list of products that no longer receive service. Among the newly added devices are the 11-inch MacBook Air and two different MacBook Pro models.

These MacBook Models Are Being Retired

According to Apple’s updated list, the early 2015 11-inch MacBook Air will no longer receive hardware support. In addition, the 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro and 2017 15-inch MacBook Pro models have also been removed from the support list. Authorized service providers can no longer order replacement parts or offer hardware repairs for these products.

According to the company’s criteria, products whose sales were discontinued more than seven years ago are no longer eligible for hardware support. These devices are classified as “obsolete products”, and Apple no longer provides hardware service for them.

However, for certain MacBook models, there may be a battery-only repair program available for up to 10 years from the date the product was discontinued, depending on the availability of replacement parts.

In addition to the Mac models, the iPhone 8 Plus, which was launched in 2017 alongside the iPhone X, has also been officially added to Apple’s vintage products list. This means that repair and support services for the device will be gradually reduced over time.
