GTA 6 might be in trouble!

Rockstar Games, the developer behind the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, is facing serious accusations.

Rockstar Games, the developer of Grand Theft Auto VI, has found itself at the center of major controversy after reportedly laying off around 30 to 40 employees across its UK and Canada offices on Thursday. The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) claims that all those dismissed were part of a private union Discord group, with many either already union members or in the process of joining — accusing Rockstar of engaging in “anti-union practices.”

Rockstar Games Accused of “The Most Obvious Anti-Union Act in History”

The IWGB harshly criticized Rockstar’s actions:

IWGB President Alex Marshall stated:

“Rockstar has carried out the most blatant and ruthless anti-union act in the history of the gaming industry. This reckless disregard for the lives and rights of the very workers who generate billions in profits is an insult to both fans and the global industry.”

Marshall added that despite this attack, the Rockstar Union would not back down and would continue to organize for better working conditions. The IWGB also announced that it would pursue all legal avenues to secure the reinstatement of its members and temporary compensation.

However, Alan Lewis, Take-Two Interactive’s Global Head of Corporate Communications — the parent company of Rockstar — firmly denied these allegations and provided a clear explanation for the layoffs:

Alan Lewis (Take-Two Interactive): “Rockstar Games has terminated a small number of individuals for gross misconduct, and there is no other reason behind these actions. As always, we fully support Rockstar’s goals and approach.”
