The iPad mini 8 is set to level up

Details about Apple’s new compact powerhouse, the iPad Mini 8, are starting to surface. The device is expected to level up with an OLED display and the powerful A19 Pro chip

Details accidentally revealed in Apple’s developer code suggest that the upcoming iPad mini 8 could deliver an unexpected performance boost. Although the company hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, leaks indicate a major processor upgrade and possible display improvements for Apple’s smallest tablet.

Power in the Palm of Your Hand with iPad mini 8

The leaked code points to a new iPad mini with the codenames J510 and J511, expected to be powered by the A19 Pro chip. This processor is anticipated to debut later this year alongside the iPhone 17 Pro series. The A19 Pro is rumored to feature more GPU cores than the standard A19 chip, resulting in a significant graphics performance boost.

Considering the current iPad mini uses the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro, the jump to A19 Pro could be a game-changing upgrade. This enhancement would make the compact tablet far more capable of handling demanding applications and future iPadOS features.

Coming with an OLED Display

Another rumor circulating in the tech community suggests that Apple is working on an iPad mini with an OLED display. This upgraded screen technology is expected to deliver more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and better power efficiency.

The OLED-equipped iPad mini is rumored to launch in 2026 or later, but it’s still uncertain whether this display upgrade will arrive alongside the A19 Pro-powered model or come in a separate future release.

The same code leaks also revealed that Apple is planning to refresh its entry-level iPad. The new model, codenamed J581 and J582, is expected to launch next spring powered by the A18 chip.

This move is seen as part of Apple’s strategy to keep its tablet lineup up to date in both the affordable and high-performance segments, ensuring a balanced product portfolio for different user needs.
