With announcements from Microsoft, a new AI character named “Mico” has been introduced for Microsoft Copilot.
After introducing a range of AI-powered features to Windows 11 devices, Microsoft has now unveiled a cute AI character that users can interact with. All Windows 11 users can receive assistance from this new character during learning processes or while completing various tasks.
Copilot’s New Face: Lively, Colorful, and Customizable “Mico”
Microsoft announced that it has given a face to its AI-powered assistant, Copilot. This new character, named Mico, appears when Copilot’s Voice Mode is activated. Mico is designed as a colorful, animated bubble that responds in real time.
Microsoft’s goal is for Mico to be expressive, friendly, and—most importantly—customizable. It responds to users not only through its voice but also with animations, colors, and facial expressions, aiming to make users feel as if they are talking to a friend. Microsoft believes that Mico’s ability to adapt to individual users will enhance Copilot’s overall usage.
Mico supports over 40 languages.
Mico works similarly to Google’s Gemini Live feature, meaning it can see what’s on your screen and hear what you say. Users can converse with Mico in natural language and receive assistance on a wide range of tasks. It can fetch information from the web, control applications on the computer, draft emails, offer advice, and automate various tasks.
Microsoft is enabling this feature by default for Windows 11 devices in the U.S. However, users who prefer not to use the character have the option to disable it.
