Elon Musk Sues Former Chinese Engineer for Allegedly Leaking xAI’s Trade Secrets
Competition in the artificial intelligence industry is intensifying, bringing employee transfers between companies into the spotlight. Elon Musk’s xAI venture has filed a lawsuit, alleging that a Chinese engineer who held a key position on the Grok AI project took trade secrets and moved to rival company OpenAI.
Elon Musk Sues Former Engineer
The lawsuit claims that the software engineer joined the xAI team at the beginning of last year and played a key role in training the Grok model. Being one of the first engineers, the employee had comprehensive access to the project and is alleged to have used this access to steal critical trade secrets. Among the allegations is that the engineer also sold $7 million worth of xAI stock during this process.

As a result of such lawsuits, the extent to which former employees should have access to sensitive information is becoming an increasingly debated issue.
